Bandhani or Bandhej Sarees were created with an art form of Tie-Dye which includes tying the cloth into tiny bindings and then dyeing the cloth. When the bindings are opened, a beautiful design is seen on the cloth. This art form, which existed in India some five thousand years ago, was practiced in ancient India by the Khatri community of Gujarat.
