This time we’re bringing in our short interrogation session with Hamida Keshwani from Fashionmate. She is an MSc. Postgraduate in Environmental Sciences & was working as a senior scientist. A mother of one, Hami has a keen interest in reading, shopping & content creation. She started blogging way back in 2011 & developed Fashionmate as a very informative blog for fashion, makeup & personal styling. Her updates on maternity style, kids fashion & beauty tips are absolutely amazing. Let’s take a glance on what interesting answers we received from her side.
Q.1 About You – Tell us about your education, profession and passion.
I did my M.Sc in Environmental Science in 2008 and was working as senior scientist in Environmental consultancy till a few years ago. However my passion lied writing and Fashion. Way back in 2011, I realized this and started my blog Fashionmate as a hobby with help of my Husband’s guidance. I used to update it every weekend and as and when I got time. When I delivered little A……, I took a break from my Job and my Passion became my profession. It’s rightly said “Do what you love and you will never get bored of it” I realized the potential of my Blog and decided to make it my full time profession now. I write about everything from fashion tips, style hacks, capsule wardrobe, sustainable fashion, Restyling tips, beauty and makeup reviews and many more under one Blog.
Q.2 Which is the best season you like and what’s your best wear in that season?
I love Summers the most. It lets me wear all kinds of outfits from Summer dress to Ethnic kurtas and Quirky Indo-western. I love experimental looks and this Summer I have worked a lot of Palazzo Saree looks.
Q.3 The best place which you have visited till now? What is the best thing about that place?
I have visited many places so far. One of the most fun places that I visited recently was our Singapore trip. It was the first trip we had with our little one as a family and since it had a three day cruise included, it gave me abundant options to wear different outfits. The trip had a theme park visit, a zoo visit, an adventure day, a formal dinner night in cruise, a beach outing. All in all it was a great photo opp for me along with fun and frolic with the little one!
Q.4 When did you first think about Fashion Blogging and what are the requirements to become a Good Fashion Blogger?
I used to write in a journal and sketch outfits on back of my school books. When I got married, my hubby who was into IT told me about this online journal where I could write about things that I am passionate about and people could read it. The idea seemed exciting to me and I thought to give it a shot. I created a free WordPress blog and started writing. I realized people actually read my posts and I started getting feedbacks from readers. That is when I thought of seriously working on my Blog.
If you want to become a Good fashion Blogger, first and foremost will be your passion and love for Fashion. Consistency is the second most important criteria. Third and the most important thing is to be honest. Today there are many models out there posing to be a blogger on social media, but all they do is just wear fancy brands and click asthetic pictures. This may UP their follower game but ultimately if you want to run a successful Blog, content is the King. Be honest about what you wrote and give your geniune opinion, share your unique ideas that make you stand out in the crowd. That will reflect in your work!
Q.5 Who is the best Diva to follow in terms of fashion, from Bollywood? Which is the best dress you like her wearing?
There are many actresses who dress well in Bollywood today. Since it’s all become so important, hiring stylists has become a norm amongst celebrities now. However if I have to take one name, it would be Sonam Kapoor. I like how she is experimental in her looks and always tries something new. Her fashion may not be on point all the times but it’s always a fresh take on old outfit. That’s what I thrive for. I really loved the palazzo Saree or the Dhoti Sarees trend that she has started. She aims for wearable trendy fashion that’s the need for today’s woman!
Q.6 What is the Inspirational Success Quote you would like to give our readers?
“Fashion Changes, but style is Eternal” it’s not a success quote but it’s something I personally follow in life.
We at Indian Wedding Saree are thankful to Hamida Keshawani (Fashionmate) for sparing her valuable time for us. We wish her good luck, success & health in the future.
